The lake would supply drinking water to the summer capital
The speaker of Uttarakhand assembly Prem Chand Agarwal took stock of the progress of the work on the proposed lake at Gairsain at his office here on Monday. The lake would supply drinking water to the Gairsain which is the summer capital of Uttarakhand.
The chief engineer of the irrigation department Dinesh Chandra informed the speaker about the design and status of the project. He said that the lake project is named as Gairsain project and as per the approval of central water commission a total requirement of eight MLD of water is calculated. For it 4.3 lakh cubic meter of water storage facility is needed. Chandra said that the water level for the storage of the required water is estimated at 29.70 meter due to which the DPR of Gairsain Lake is being revised. The work on DPR revision would get completed in one month.
The speaker directed the chief engineer that DPR for supplying drinking water to Gairsain, Bharadisain and nearby areas should be prepared so that work on construction of the lake is initiated. He said that since Gairsain has been declared as the summer capital of Uttarakhand, all basic facilities should be provided on the basis of priority to the people of the area. It would ensure that the local people don’t face any problem. The executive engineer of the hydrology unit of Bahadarabad, Rajiv Kumar Goswami was also present on the occasion.
