Doon University to hold its first convocation on Nov 30
The first convocation of the Doon University founded in 2005 would be held on November 30 which would be attended by the Governor Baby Rani Maurya, the Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat and the eminent folk singer Narendra Singh Negi. Providing details, the registrar of the university M S Mandrawal said on Wednesday that the former Union Minister Murli Manohar Joshi would be conferred with the title of doctor Honoris Causa on the occasion.
Notably, the Minister of State for higher education Dhan Singh Rawat had directed all the universities based in the State to hold the convocation once in a year.
The registrar of the university further informed that 1004 UG/PG students would be given certificates during the convocation. “Besides, 44 students would be awarded with gold medals while five students would be bestowed with the PhD on the occasion,” he said.
Speaking of the history of the university, he said that though the university had been founded in 2005 the first session had started in 2009. Doon University had been established as a residential one, but in 2013, it changed itself to both the day and residential university following which the students had been given an option to study as day scholars.
It is also learnt that the vice-chancellor of the university, C S Nautiyal would preside over the convocation.
The registrar further said that the programme would commence at 10.45 am with the arrival of the guests and it would end at 2 pm. read more posts…
