The traffic police on Sunday removed 18 unclaimed vehicles from ISBT and Transport Nagar areas in Dehradun. Authorities are also marking other places in the city area where such vehicles are abandoned or remain unclaimed for years to remove them immediately.
The district magistrate Sonika had recently ordered the superintendent of police (traffic) Akshay Konde to take action against all abandoned vehicles in public spaces which have encroached on spaces and are even affecting the movement of traffic in different areas of the city. Following the orders, Konde informed that the traffic police on Sunday removed 18 unclaimed vehicles from the Transport Nagar area with the help of towing crane. He said that the ground was also levelled up by the traffic police which can be used to ensure smooth traffic in the area.
Konde said that locals also appreciated the traffic police’s effort as such vehicles obstructed roads and traffic too. He said that the authorities are working on marking all such abandoned vehicles across the city which will be soon removed too with immediate effect to make the public roads free from obstruction. He said that traffic police along with district administration is working on improving traffic conditions and parking systems in the city and they plan to introduce more new initiatives in future to ensure good traffic management in Dehradun.
