DOON-PANTNAGAR FLIGHT SERVICE TO START SOON: CM

The Union Aviation Ministry has given its permission for the Dehradun-Pantnagar air service. Similarly air services from Hindon air base (Ghaziabad) to Pithoragarh, Almora, Srinagar, Gauchar and Lansdowne would also start. The Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat gave this information after inaugurating the new administrative building of the Animal husbandry department at Mothrowala hereon Friday.
In his address, the CM said that the all important Pantnagar- Dehradun air service would start within next two months.
The CM unveiled the official logo of the department and distributed first aid kits for animals to the cattle rearers on the eve. The CM said that the demand for organic food products have increased many fold in recent times and one cannot imagine the organic farming without animal husbandry. And the need of the hour is to give it a good pace.
He said that the economy can get an impetus if the cattle rearing are taken up on a big scale.
The task of conservation and improvement in the Badri breed of cow is being undertaken in Nadiyal village of Champawat district and the State would set up sex semen centre in Rishikesh to increase the number of high milk yielding cows in State. Rawat added that the arrangement to provide safe rearing places for the stray cattle would be made.
In his address the CM also raised the issue of decreasing sex ratio in some areas of the State but added that the sex ratio in the Pithoragarh district has shown marked improvement in last six months.
The State Minister for Animal husbandry, Rekha Arya said that the department has initiated a Pashudhan Bima Yojana for the cattle rearers and there is need to create awareness about the scheme.
The MLA and Dehradun Mayor Vinod Chamoli highlighted the need for research in the animal husbandry sector and linking sheep, goat and poultry with economy.
Secretary of Animal Husbandry, R Meenakshi Sundaram said that the department has completed 90 percent vaccination against foot and mouth disease of cattle in the State.
He said that the U’khand would be the first State to start sex semen centre.
Sundaram aided that a special plan is being made for conservation of Badri cow in the State and in the first phase 1000 cows have been selected.
