With the ongoing Yatra season and increasing number of tourists every day, cancellation of 1309-10 Howrah Dehradun Doon express for five days has increased the problems of people travelling to and from Dehradun.
Station Superintendent of Dehradun Railway Station, Sitaram Sonkar said, “Due to the ongoing construction of electronic interlocking near Faizabad Station, the 13009 Howrah-Dehradun express will remain suspended from June 13 to 17. Similarly, the 1310 Dehradun-Howrah express will be suspended from June 15 to June 19.”
When asked about the effect it will have on the passengers he said, “The cancellation will of course have a huge impact on passengers as it runs from Howrah Junction to Dehradun Junction every day. In fact, the advance booking quota of the train is almost full for the month.”
About the alternate routes that passengers can take he said, “Passengers can take 14265-66 Varansai-Dehradun express, which runs daily, 15006 Gorakhpur express which runs three days a week, 12327-28 Upasna Express to Howrah which also runs three days a week and 14119-120 Kathgodam express which passengers can change from Moradabad.”
