DM administers oath to newly elected Mayor and councillors
The Haridwar District Magistrate Deepak Rawat administered the oath of office and secrecy to the newly elected city Mayor Anita Sharma. She pledged to work for the development of the city. After taking the oath, the mayor administered the oath to the councilors from 60 wards. Chairman of Shivalik Nagar municipal council Rajeev Sharma also took the oath of office and secrecy on the occasion.
BJP legislator from Haridwar-rural Swami Yateeshwaranand, municipal commissioner Lalit Narayan Mishra, city magistrate Nupur Verma, superintendent of police (City) Mamta Vohra and other district officials were also among those present on the occasion.
Soon after the municipal corporation office bearers took the oath, the current MP from Haridwar and former Chief Minister of Uttarakhand, Ramesh Pokhariyal ‘Nishank’ added two independent councilors to the membership of the BJP. The two councilors from ward number 23 and 34 joined BJP at the residence of Chetan Sharma.
Though their request to the BJP before the elections for tickets was turned down, after the formation of the municipal board, they joined BJP.
In all 1,89,266 voters had cast their vote on November 18 to elect the urban civic body office bearers from 186 booths of the municipal corporation and 24 booths of Shivalik Nagar municipal council. Read more posts…
