District administration to remove encroachments to check waterlogging
After problems caused by waterlogging in various parts of the city in recent days, the district administration is preparing to remove encroachments which are causing waterlogging issues in the city. In the last few days, the rain has been followed by severe waterlogging and flood-like situations in several places of Dehradun. Recently, the chief minister Trivendra Singh Rawat also instructed the district magistrate Ashish Kumar Shrivastava to tackle the water logging issue in the city. The encroachment is being considered as the main cause of waterlogging in the areas like Govindgarh due to which the water accumulated on the roads and also entered in many houses damaging the properties of the locals. Talking about the planning of the district administration regarding this issue, Shrivastava said that presently, the encroachment in the affected areas is being marked by the administration with the help of revenue records. He said that a team has already been formed for this process. After marking the encroachment in the areas, the district administration will provide some time to people to remove their own encroachment and if they fail to do so in the given time, the administration will remove these encroachment and all the paths to drain water during rainfall will be cleared to minimise the water logging issue in monsoon season, added Shrivastava.
