Works being executed under the Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT) must be reviewed at the directorate level on a fortnightly basis. This direction was issued by the State’s Urban Development and Housing minister Madan Kaushik at a meeting chaired by him to review execution of works under AMRUT here on Tuesday.
Works including roads, sewerage, drainage system and parks, urban green spaces, parks and beautification of cities are to be executed under AMRUT. In Uttarakhand, the cities of Dehradun, Haridwar, Nainital, Kashipur, Rudrapur, Haldwani and Roorkee have been selected under this mission. Works amounting to a total of Rs 593 crore are to be undertaken in three stages under this mission. So far, a sum of Rs 121 crore has been released for the works. Twenty per cent of the fund will be received from the centre after the tender process. Talking to media persons after the meeting, Kaushik said that execution of works under AMRUT in Dehradun and Kashipur was found to be okay though the tender process needs to be expedited in Kashipur. Further, the status of works in Haridwar was not found to be satisfactory, considering which the officials concerned were directed to take swift action and present relevant details in the next review meeting. He also directed fortnightly review of the works at the directorate level to ensure that the public receive the intended benefits of the scheme.
The State’s urban development secretary Shailesh Bagauli, additional secretary Chandresh Kumar Yadav, Dehradun municipal commissioner Vinay Shankar Pandey, Haridwar municipal commissioner Alok Kumar Pandey, Haldwani municipal commissioner Chandra Singh Martolia and other officials were also present in the meeting.
