Shikhar Degree College, Haridwar and Jaspur college of Udham Singh Nagar to be handed over to the higher education department. These colleges are at present being operated under the minorities’ welfare ministry.
The State Minister for cooperative, higher education and dairy development, Dhan Singh Rawat, has directed the officials to submit proposals for construction of buildings of schools, ITIs and polytechnic colleges under Pradhan Mantri Jan Vikas Karyakram (PMJVK) within next seven days. He gave the orders while undertaking a meeting of officials of social welfare and minorities department at his office in Vidhan Sabha on Tuesday. The Minister said that the union minorities welfare ministry has released a sum of Rs 47 crore for the Haridwar, Nainital, Udham Singh Nagar and Dehradun districts and the nodal officers of the districts concerned would be responsible for proper utilisation of this budget. The Minister was told that a sum of Rs 6.5 Crore is earmarked for construction of science block of government degree college, Vikasnagar under PMJVK. Similarly a Detailed Project Report (DPR) of Rs 50 crore is sent for construction of hostels, library, examination halls and science faculty for colleges of Kichha, Rudrapur, Kashipur, Laksar and Chudiyala. In addition to these projects a proposal of Rs 30 crore for Pantnagar, Kashipur and Bajpur colleges is submitted.
In the meeting decision to handover Shikhar Degree college of Haridwar and Jaspur college of Udham Singh Nagar to higher education department. These colleges are at present being operated under the minorities’ welfare ministry.
The meeting was attended by the director of minorities welfare department Suresh Joshi, director Higher education S C Pant, director of technical education Hari Singh, deputy director of minorities’ welfare Raees Ahmed, principal of Government degree college Daksha Joshi and others.
