DGCA’s nod for air ambulance service from AIIMS-R

Paving the way for air ambulance services from the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Rishikesh, the Director General Civil Aviation (DGCA) has given the all important permission for air operations from the institute. Recently the AIIMS- Rishikesh had set up a helipad facility of Air Ambulance services and a successful trial landing on the strip was done.  It is noteworthy that after the No Objection Certificate (NOC) of the DGCA, a trial landing was done here in the month of August, which was successful. The AIIMS-Rishikesh helipad was inaugurated by Chief Minister of Uttarakhand Trivendra Singh Rawat on August 11.

 Confirming the development the director of the AIIMS Rishikesh Ravikant said that apart from the disasters and road accident injuries in the state, AIIMS institute is committed to fully support the state government for the medical care of seriously ill patients from remote hilly areas. “Due to the occurrence of disasters in the state, people get trapped in the mountains and are unable to reach the hospital on time in case of an accident. Immediate treatment of patients and injured brought to AIIMS through Air ambulance can now be started with this permission,’’ he said.

The in charge of AIIMS Heli Services, Dr Madhur Uniyal said that after getting permission from DGCA for regular aerial operation, air ambulance will now be able to operate smoothly on AIIMS helipad. He said that patients will be relieved from the risks of serious patients due to delay and patient transportation due to landing on IDPL helipad Rishikesh.
