Demarcation of govt land in newly added MCD wards hitting hurdles
The newly added 40 wards in the existing list of Municipal Corporation of Dehradun (MCD)have not only raised issues in maintaining the proper cleanliness of the places but also measurement and demarcation of the government land in these wards have become a major issue. The lack of proper staff in MCD is becoming a hurdle to fulfil the task. Hence the officials have very little idea about the government land in the newly added 40 wards. Not only MCD is facing the lack of patwaris but the problem is spread across the district.
According to the officials, the proposal for appointing at least eight patwaris was sent to the district magistrate SA Murugeshan after the mayoral election was over.
Talking to The Pioneer, the district magistrate SA Murugeshan to whom the additional charges of municipal commissioner has been given said, “There is a lack of patwaris in the district level. We have studied the MCD proposal. The process is underway. But permanent appointment is not possible right now. However, temporary arrangement is most likely to be done.”
Dwelling on the problem, a civic body officer said “We have sent a proposal to the DM for appointing patwaris in MCD. As far as we know things are under process. We haven’t received any written answer yet, but hopefully, it would be issued soon.”
Elaborating more about the structure and plan of the patwaris, the officer in- charge said, “We have firmed up a proper structure which would work as soon as the patwaris are appointed in MCD. We would open zonal offices in some areas of the city and every office would have at least two patwaris. After things are completed the process of measuring government land in the newly added 40 wards would be easy and the work would be completed in time.
