In a daylight robbery three armed robbers riding a motor bike struck at a jewellery shop on Monday, looting gold and silver jewellery and a mobile phone of the owner’s wife.
After checking CCTV footage Superintendent of Police (City) Shweta Choubey has given the task of catching these robbers to Nehru Colony Police inspector and Special Operation Group.
According to the police, the robbers reached a jewellery shop in Saraswati Vihar, Nehru Colony at about 12:30 pm. Three of them came riding a motorbike. One stayed outside wearing a helmet while his two companions came inside with their face concealed inside helmets.
They then pointed a handgun at the shop owner’s wife Lovey Rastogi, who was present at the shop with her child, and looted some gold and silver jewellery.
Soon after looting some items from the shop they escaped on the bike.
SP (City) Shweta Choubey said, “We have checked the CCTV footage. Five teams have been constituted including SOG and a combined team of Police Station Nehru Colony and Patelnagar.”
When asked about the value of the loot she said,
“The victim shop owner have not filed an official complaint yet, but the wife of the shopkeeper present at the crime scene estimated that the criminals looted jewellery valued at up to Rs 6,00,000.
They (robbers) were not able to open the locker, so they took small items such as rings and earrings that were displayed. Our teams are working on the leads.”
