CS, CEO hold meet with officials on MCoC, poll arrangements
State chief secretary Utpal Kumar Singh and chief electoral officer Sowjanya held a meeting with senior officials regarding effective action on various aspects of the model code of conduct in force for the Lok Sabha election 2019.
Stating that the model code of conduct had come into force with the announcement of the parliamentary elections, the chief secretary directed the officials to ensure its effective implementation. Sowjanya informed that within 24 hours of the election schedule being announced by the election commission, all types of posters, pamphlets, banners, hoardings and cut-outs are to be removed from Government offices and buildings housing Government offices.
Within 48 hours of the announcement, all unauthorised political publicity material including posters, banners, flags, wall-paintings and cut-outs are to be removed from various public properties. Further, within 72 hours of the election schedule being announced, all unauthorised political publicity materials will have to be removed from private properties.
Directions have already been issued in the past to all district magistrates regarding defacement of property.
Officials were also directed to ensure that the ruling party does not misuse government funds for publicity of its own achievements through print, electronic and mass media.
Various aspects of the model code of conduct and system to be observed for conduct of the polls were discussed in the meeting. Additional chief secretaries Ranbir Singh, Radha Raturi, principal secretary Manisha Panwar, secretaries Bhupinder Kaur Aulakh, Nitesh Jha, Radhika Jha and other officials were also present in the meeting.
