The number of novel Coronavirus (Covid-19) patients in Uttarakhand climbed to 6866 on Wednesday as the state health department reported 279 new cases of the disease. Two patients of the disease died on the day which increased the death toll to 72 in the state. The authorities discharged 91 patients of the disease from different hospitals of the state after their recovery on Wednesday. A total of 3811 patients have so far recovered from the disease but the recovery rate further slid to 55.41 percent on Wednesday. The doubling rate of the disease in the state is 24.88 days. A total of 6042 swab samples are yet to be tested in different labs of the state. Out of the total samples tested 4.72 percent samples are tested positive for the disease.
In All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Rishikesh, a 50 year old male, positive for Covid-19 died on Wednesday. Similarly a 23 year old female expired at Sushila Tiwari hospital Haldwani on the day.
The health department reported 81 patients from Udham Singh Nagar, 74 from Haridwar, 50 in Dehradun, 26 in Pithoragarh, 20 in Nainital and 18 in Almora on Wednesday. In Uttarkashi five patients surfaced while three patients were reported in Pauri district. One patient each was reported from Champawat and Tehri districts.
The department discharged 42 patients in Dehradun, 39 in Nainital, six in Uttarkashi and four in Udham Singh Nagar district on the day.
The state now has 2945 active patients of the disease with Haridwar district leading the table with 981 active cases followed by Udham Singh Nagar district which has 778 active cases. Nainital has 427 and Dehradun 426 active cases of Covid-19. Almora has 84, Uttarkashi 65, Pithoragarh 64, Tehri 52, Champawat 32 and Pauri 26 active cases of the disease. Bageshwar has four while Rudraprayag and Chamoli have three active cases each of Covid-19 now.
To prevent the infection from spreading further the authorities have declared 328 areas as containment zones out of which Haridwar district alone has 289 such zones.
