Nine deaths, 411 fresh cases reported on Thursday
The tally of novel Coronavirus (Covid-19) patients in Uttarakhand mounted to 13636 on Thursday with the state health department reporting 411 fresh cases of the disease. Death of nine patients was also reported on the day which increased the death toll to 187 in the state. The authorities discharged 301 patients from different hospitals after their recovery on the day and the state now has a total of 9433 recovered patients which puts the recovery percentage at 69.18 percent. The doubling rate of the disease in Uttarakhand is at 26.14 days.
Four patients each of the disease were reported dead from All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Rishikesh and Sushila Tiwari government hospital Haldwani on Thursday. In AIIMS Rishikesh, a 74 year female, a 62 year old male, a 45 year old male and a 18 year old female were reported dead. In Sushila Tiwari government hospital Haldwani a 75 year old male, a 63 year old male and 36 and 35 year old females expired. In Government Doon Medical College (GDMC) hospital a 72 year old male was reported dead on the day.
The authorities reported 125 fresh cases of Covid-19 from Udham Singh Nagar on Thursday. Similarly 115 patients were found in Haridwar district. The authorities reported 87 patients in Dehradun, 47 in Nainital, 17 in Tehri and nine in Chamoli district on the day. Similarly six patients were found in Pauri Garhwal, two each in Almora and Champawat and one in Bageshwar district on the day. Out of 301 patients discharged after recovery on Thursday 145 are from Haridwar, 40 from Udham Singh Nagar, 33 from Dehradun and 25 are from Nainital. Similarly 22 patients were discharged in Champawat, 19 in Tehri, 11 in Pauri, four in Almora and one each in Chamoli and Bageshwar districts on Thursday.
The state now has 3966 active patients of the disease. Haridwar district is maintaining its pole position in the table of active cases with 963 active patients. Udham Singh Nagar with 928 active cases is at second spot followed by Dehradun with 728 cases. Nainital has 616, Uttarkashi 137, Chamoli 89, Champawat 83, Pauri 77, Rudraprayag 61, Pithoragarh 42, Almora 39 and Bageshwar 31 active cases of the disease.
CM Rawat’s OSD positive for Covid-19
Health directorate housing Covid control room hit by virus attack
The contagion of novel Coronavirus (Covid-19) has made its appearance in the office of Chief Minister (CM) Trivendra Singh Rawat as the disease has infected one of his Officers on Special Duty (OSD). The OSD whose office is located on the same floor where the office of the CM is situated at the state secretariat is learnt to be on leave from some days. His condition is said to be stable and he has kept himself in home isolation. It is learnt that he contracted the virus from one of his family members.
Meanwhile panic gripped the state health directorate on Thursday as six employees of the National Health Mission (NHM) were found infected with Covid-19. The office of NHM is located on the third floor of the health directorate building. Incidentally the state control room for Covid-19 is situated on this floor. In such a condition the operation of the all important control room is a big challenge for the authorities.
