69 new cases reported, tally reaches to 2691, 37 discharged, one dead on Thursday
The contagion of the novel Coronavirus (Covid-19) is continuing to spread in Uttarakhand. On Thursday the state health department reported 69 new cases of the disease which increased the tally of the Covid-19 patients to 2691. One patient of the disease died on the day which increased the death toll to 36 in the state. On the day 37 patients of the disease were discharged from different hospitals of the state after their complete recovery. A total of 1758 patients have so far recovered from Covid-19.
On Thursday 28 patients were reported in Nainital district while 11 patients were found in Udham Singh Nagar district. The health department also found 10 patients were found in Haridwar district. In Almora and Bageshwar six patients each were discovered while four patients were reported from Dehradun district. Pauri reported two new patients while one patient each was found in Tehri and Uttarkashi districts respectively.
In Dehradun, a 34 year old male who was positive for Covid-19 died at Government Doon Medical College (GDMC) hospital on Thursday. He was referred from CHC Uttarkashi.
On Thursday 13 patients were discharged from hospital in Almora after their recovery from the disease. In Dehradun 11 were discharged while five patients recovered in Pauri district. In Bageshwar four patients were discharged while three and one patient were discharged from Uttarkashi and Tehri district respectively.
The additional secretary, state health department, Yugal Kishore Pant said that reports of 1339 samples were found negative for the disease on Thursday. He added that reports of 3762 samples are still awaited by the department. On the day, a total of 1249 samples were collected for COVID -19 testing. The authorities have so far taken swab samples of 61165 suspected patients for COVID-19 test. Out of the total samples taken, 4.84 percent samples have been found positive for the disease. In a good sign the doubling rate of disease in the state has now increased to 28.30 days while the recovery percent in the state is now at a healthy 66.01 percent.
The state now has 845 active patients of the disease. Dehradun with 176 cases is continuing to maintain its position at top of the table of Covid-19 positive active patients. Haridwar district is at second position with 119 active cases while with 104 active cases each Udham Singh Nagar and Nainital districts are locked at third position. With regular recovery of patients, Tehri district has slipped to fourth position with 86 active cases. Pauri has 75 while Almora has 63 active cases. There are 35 active cases in Uttarkashi district while Chamoli now has 23 active patients of Covid-19. Rudraprayag and Bageshwar have 22 and 17 active patients respectively while Pithoragarh has 15 active cases. Champawat is at the bottom of the table with six active cases.
The administration has declared 111 areas as containment zones to check the spread of infection in the state. Haridwar district has 62 containment zones while Dehradun district has 35 containment zones. Tehri has 10 while Udham Singh Nagar district administration has declared three areas as containment zones.
