174 cases reported on Saturday; 10 armed forces personnel found positive in Doon
The Covid-19 contagion is continuing to surge in Uttarakhand. On Saturday the state health department reported 174 new cases of the disease which increased the tally of cases of the disease to 4276. A 52 year old male died at All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Rishikesh on Saturday. This patient was tested positive for Covid-19 on July 15. With this death the number of deaths mounted to 52 in Uttarakhand.
The health department also discharged 60 patients of the disease from different hospitals of the state on Saturday after their recovery from the disease. In the state a total of 3081 patients have so far recovered from the disease. The recovery rate of the disease is continuing to go down. On Saturday the recovery rate stood at 72.05 percent while the doubling rate of the disease in the state is 25.74 days. The authorities have so far taken swab samples of 116694 people for tests. Out of the total samples tested 4.09 percent samples have tested positive for the disease. The total number of Covid-19 patients in Dehradun district mounted to 1049 on Saturday with the state health department reporting 50 new cases of the disease. Incidentally Dehradun became the first district in the state to cross 1000 figure mark. Ten armed force personnel and one health care worker were found positive for the disease in Dehradun. In Udham Singh Nagar 45 patients were reported while 36 and 27 patients surfaced in Nainital and Haridwar districts respectively. In Almora seven patients were reported while three patients each were found in Pithoragarh, Uttarkashi and Tehri districts respectively.
The authorities discharged 38 patients in Udham Singh Nagar, 16 in Dehradun, two each in Bageshwar and Champawat and one each in Tehri and Rudraprayag districts on Saturday.
In another disturbing development the state crossed the 1000 figure mark in the number of active patients of the disease on Saturday. The state now has 1108 active patients of the disease. Udham Singh Nagar is at top of table in the list of Covid-19 active cases with 368 active cases of the disease. Dehradun with 259 active cases are at second position and Nainital with 218 active cases is at third spot. Haridwar has 156, Pauri 25, Tehri 23, Uttarkashi 16, Champawat and Pithoragarh 15 each, Almora eight and Chamoli five active cases of the disease. Bageshwar and Rudraprayag now have no active cases of the disease.
