Covid-19 spiralling out of control in U’khand

Record 1637 fresh cases reported on Sunday

The contagion of novel Coronavirus (Covid-19) is appearing to become out of control in Uttarakhand. After reporting a record breaking 1115 cases a day before, the state health department reported 1637 fresh cases of the disease on Sunday. The provisional state capital Dehradun is virtually seized by the disease as 613 cases were reported in one single day on Sunday.  With this the tally of the Covid-19 patients in the state jumped to 31973.

The authorities reported the death of 12 patients in different hospitals on the day. The death toll in the state now stands at 414. A total of 1009 patients of the disease were discharged from different hospitals on Sunday. The number of recovered cases in the state is at 21040 now and the recovery percentage is at 65.81 percent in the state. The infection rate too is climbing steadily and out of total samples tested 6.42 percent have tested positive.

In All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Rishikesh, five patients of the disease were reported dead on Sunday. Similarly four patients of Covid-19 succumbed at Sushila Tiwari government hospital, Haldwani while two patients were reported dead at Government Doon Medical College (GDMC) hospital. One patient was reported dead at Sri Mahant Indiresh Hospital, Dehradun.

The authorities reported 623 fresh cases in Dehradun, 318 in Haridwar, 240 in Udham Singh Nagar, 211 in Nainital, 57 in Pauri, 47 in Uttarkashi, 34 in Pithoragarh, 32 in Champawat, 27 in Tehri, 16 in Almora, 13 in Bageshwar, 12 in Rudraprayag and seven in Champawat.

The authorities discharged 329 patients from different hospitals in Dehradun, 311 in Udham Singh Nagar, 209 in Nainital, 63 in Tehri, 29 in Uttarkashi, 27 in Pithoragarh, 14 in Almora and six in Champawat district.  

The state now has 10397 active cases of the disease. Dehradun leads the table of active cases with 3179 patients.  Haridwar has 2126 active cases and is on second spot while with 1230 active cases Nainital is in third position. Udham Singh Nagar has 1154, Pauri 524, Tehri Garhwal 420, Uttarkashi 350, Almora 311, Champawat 283, Rudraprayag 262, Pithoragarh 237, Chamoli 165 and Bageshwar 156 active cases of the disease.
