85 new patients reported on Tuesday; patient count 1043
The number of novel Coronavirus (Covid-19) affected patients in Uttarakhand jumped into four figures on Tuesday with the state health department reporting 85 new cases. The state now has 1043 patients of the disease. On the day, 30 patients were also discharged from the hospital after their recovery from the disease. One Covid-19 patient admitted in the government medical college hospital Haldwani died on Tuesday which increased the death toll in the state to seven. The authorities however claim that cardio vascular failure was the reason for the death of the patient.
Incidentally first case of the disease was reported in the state on March 15. It took two months and four days for the disease to cross 100 figure mark (on May 19). However it took only 15 days for the disease to cross 1000 mark which indicates the manner in which the disease is spreading in the state.
On Tuesday 36 patients were reported from Dehradun district while 22 were reported from Nainital district. In Tehri district 14 new patients surfaced while six patients were reported from Chamoli district. From Pauri and Rudraprayag, three and two patients were reported respectively while one patient was found in Haridwar district.
On the day eight patients each were discharged from Almora and Nainital districts after their complete recovery from the disease. In Haridwar, six patients were discharged while three patients each were discharged from Pauri and Pithoragarh districts respectively. One patient each got recovered from the disease in Udham Singh Nagar and Bageshwar districts.
In Dehradun, 25 patients reported on the day have a travel history from Mumbai. All of them were placed in a quarantine centre in Bidholi area. Five persons reported positive on the day have contact history with the patients found earlier from the Sabji Mandi area.
The additional secretary, state health department, Yugal Kishore Pant said that reports of 893 samples were found negative for the disease on Tuesday. He added that reports of 6863 samples are still awaited by the department.
On Tuesday, a total of 1268 samples were collected for COVID -19 testing. The authorities have so far taken swab samples of 33081 suspected patients for COVID-19 test. Out of the total samples taken, 3.95 percent samples have been found positive for the disease. A total of 1806062 people have so far downloaded the ‘Aarogya Setu App’ on their smart phones. The doubling rate of disease in the state is 5.89 days while the recovery percent in the state is now at 24.23. A total of 29408 persons are in kept in the institutional quarantine by the state health department.
Uttarakhand now has 781 active cases of the disease. Dehradun with 231 active cases holds the dubious distinction of being at top of table of Covid-19 positive patients. Nainital district is at second position 167 active cases. The Tehri district is at third spot with 91 active cases while Haridwar has 64 active patients of the disease. Almora district now has 52 active cases while Udham Singh Nagar has 39 active patients. Pauri and Pithoragarh districts have 29 and 27 active cases respectively while Champawat district now has 25 active cases. Chamoli and Bageshwar districts have 19 and 15 active cases of the disease respectively. Uttarkashi district has 14 active cases while Rudraprayag district is at bottom with eight active patients of the disease.
