58 new patients reported, one death in Pauri
Hundred days after the first patient of the novel Coronavirus (Covid-19) was reported in the state, the number of patients of the disease jumped to 2402 on Monday. The first patient of the disease was reported on March 15 in Uttarakhand. On Monday the state health department reported 58 new cases of the disease. One patient of the disease, a 68 year old male died at Base hospital Srinagar, Pauri on Monday which increased the death tally to 28 in the state. On the day 17 patients of disease were reported from Haridwar district while 15 patients surfaced in Udham Singh Nagar district. In Almora 11 patients were reported while 10 patients were found in Pauri district on the day. Two patients each were found in Nainital and Dehradun while one patient was reported from Tehri district. On the day 21 patients were discharged from different hospitals of the state. A total of 1521 patients have so far recovered from the disease in the state.
The additional secretary, state health department, Yugal Kishore Pant said that reports of 1566 samples were found negative for the disease on Monday. He added that reports of 3999 samples are still awaited by the department. On the day, a total of 769 samples were collected for COVID -19 testing. The authorities have so far taken swab samples of 56724 suspected patients for COVID-19 test. Out of the total samples taken, 4.77 percent samples have been found positive for the disease. The doubling rate of disease in the state now stands at 23.09 days while the recovery percent in the state is now at 62.93 percent.
The state now has 848 active patients of the disease. Dehradun with 191 cases is continuing to maintain its position at top of the table of Covid-19 positive active patients. Haridwar district is at second position with 138 active cases. With 114 active cases, Tehri district is now at third position. Nainital district has 98 active cases and is at fourth position in the state. Almora has 72 active cases while Pauri has 56 active patients of Covid-19. Udham Singh Nagar has 54 active while Pithoragarh district has 37 active cases of Covid-19. Uttarkashi has 31 active cases while Rudraprayag and Chamoli have 21 active patients each. Bageshwar district now has 12 active cases while with three cases Champawat is at the bottom of the table of active cases in the state. The administration has declared 106 areas as containment zones to check the spread of infection in the state. Haridwar district has 57 containment zones while Dehradun district has 36 containment zones.
CM sanctions Rs 7.5 Cr for Nainital, US Nagar & Pithoragarh
In an effort to provide financial support to the districts in their ongoing fight against the Covid-19, the chief minister Trivendra Singh Rawat sanctioned a sum of Rs 7.50 Crore for the districts of Nainital, Udham Singh Nagar and Pithoragarh from the CM’s relief fund on Monday. A sum of Rs 3 Crore for the District Magistrate (DM) of Nainital, Rs 2.5 Crore for DM of Udham Singh Nagar and Rs 2 Crore for DM of Pithoragarh would be provided for the purpose. CM Rawat also directed the DMs of all districts to ensure better management of quarantine centres and provide necessary help to the returnees. He said that all the DMs have been provided with the necessary budget for the purpose and in the future too there would be no dearth of funds. Rawat said that the state government had earmarked a sum of Rs 25 Crore for the health department for pandemic and out of it Rs 10 Crore was released earlier and the remaining Rs 15 Crore has now been provided to the department. He said that all Pradhans were provided Rs 10000 each to provide necessary help and facilities to the returnees.
