Covid-19 contagion hits fast track in U’khand

1540 new patients, nine deaths reported on Wednesday

The contagion of the novel Coronavirus (Covid-19) virus is continuing to spread with frightening speed in Uttarakhand. On Wednesday 1540 fresh cases of the disease were reported by the state health department which is the second highest number in a single day. On Sunday ( September 13) record 1637 cases of Covid-19 were reported.  With these cases the tally of the disease has galloped to 35947 in the state. Deaths of nine patients of Covid-19 were also reported on Wednesday which increased the death toll to 447 in the state. The day also witnessed 1192 recoveries on the day which is the highest in one single day ever since the pandemic started in the state on March 15. A total of 24277 patients have so far recovered from the disease and the recovery percentage now stands at 67.54. The infection rate (IR) in the state is 6.77 percent. The doubling rate of the disease for the state is at 19.83 days.

Seven patients of the disease were reported dead at All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Rishikesh on Wednesday while two patients succumbed to the disease at Sushila Tiwari government hospital, Haldwani.

 The Contagion appears to be its peak in provisional state capital Dehradun. On Wednesday 429 fresh cases of the disease were reported in Dehradun. Similarly 363 patients were reported in Haridwar, 246 in Udham Singh Nagar, 118 in Nainital, 97 in Almora, 84 in Bageshwar, 55 in Pithoragarh, 51 in Pauri, 47 in Uttarkashi, 31 in Chamoli, 12 in Tehri and seven in Rudraprayag. Out of the 1192 patients discharged on the day, 327 are from Haridwar, 272 from Dehradun, 249 from Udham Singh Nagar, 70 in Tehri and 63 in Pauri. Uttarakhand now has 11068 active patients of the disease with Dehradun maintaining its top position in the table. Here 3628 active patients of the disease are there. Dehradun is followed by Haridwar with 2315 active patients while Nainital overtook Udham Singh Nagar on Wednesday and is at third position now with 1345 active patients. Udham Singh Nagar has 1258,  Pauri 526, Tehri 377, Uttarkashi 333, Pithoragarh 285 and Champawat 244 active patients of the disease. Rudraprayag has 217 active cases, Almora 189, Chamoli 179 and Bageshwar district has 172 active patients of the disease.
