Recovery rate witnesses drop of 23 percent
The spurt in the cases of the novel Coronavirus (Covid-19) during the month of July has taken a big toll on the recovery rate in Uttarakhand. The recovery rate was at 81 percent during the beginning of July month but now it has shown a decline of more than 23 percent. The drop in recovery rate can be understood from the fact that there are ten times more Covid-19 cases in the month of July as compared to April and May months. The data of the Social Development for Communities Foundation, Dehradun shows that the Bageshwar district is at top of the table with a recovery percentage of 92 percent. Here 94 patients out of total 102 cases reported so far have recovered. Chamoli and Tehri districts have 89 percent recovery rate each. In Chamoli 82 out of 92 patients and in Tehri 458 out of total 517 patients have recovered from the disease. The recent spurt in the number of cases of Covid-19 has taken a battering on the recovery rate in Haridwar district. With a recovery percentage of only 36, Haridwar has the worst recovery rate in Uttarakhand. Here 1416 patients of the disease have been reported so far out of whom only 515 have recovered from the disease. Udham Singh Nagar (1252 cases, 465 recoveries) has a recovery rate of 37 percent. The provisional state capital Dehradun which has so far reported 1659 cases of the disease which incidentally is highest in the state has 1167 recoveries so far. The district has a modest recovery rate of 70 percent. Rudraprayag has 87 percent recovery rate, Pauri 85 percent, Almora 71 percent, Uttarkashi 63 percent, Nainital 61 percent, Champawat 58 percent and Pithoragarh 49 percent recovery rate.
