Congress meets Guv, demands scrutiny of Karnwal’s caste certificate
At the time when Khanpur BJP MLA, Pranav Singh Champion was training his guns on Jhabreda MLA, Deshraj Karnwal during the press conference, the opposition Congress was at Raj Bhawan with the demand that the caste certificate of the Karnwal which Champion is claiming as fake, should be investigated. A delegation of the Congress led by the Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) President Pritam Singh met the governor Baby Rani Maurya on the day.
The delegation submitted a memorandum to the governor in which the party demanded that the documents of the BJP MLA, Deshraj Karnwal should be investigated to check their authenticity.
In the memorandum, the Congress leaders said that BJP MLA, Pranav Singh Champion is accusing that Jhabreda MLA, Karnwal submitted fake caste certificate when he contested the assembly elections. The congress leaders said that Karnwal and Champion are in the same party (BJP). In the memorandum the Congress said that since the allegations are made by an MLA who is responsible member of the society the certificate of the Karnwal should be scrutinised. The Congress also expressed disappointment on the fact that the state government is keeping silent on the serious allegations. The congress leaders said that a through scrutiny of the all the documents of Karnwal should be done and strict action should be taken if his documents, on the basis of whom he contested and won from a reserved seat are found fake. Similarly action should be taken against Champion if the allegations levelled by him are found baseless.
The delegation consisted of Vice President Surya Kant Dhasmana, former MLA Vikram Singh Negi, Vijay Pal Singh Sajwan, Congress spokesperson, R P Raturi and Mahanagar President Lal Chand Sharma apart from PCC President Pritam Singh.
Congress demand laughable
The BJP has stated that the Congress submitting a memorandum to the governor demanding probe into an MLAs caste certificate shows the Congress’ perplexity. The BJP State media in-charge Devendra Bhasin said that the step taken by the Congress is laughable. The Congress leaders are anticipating a major defeat in the Lok Sabha elections and are hence resorting to taking such steps, he said. Congress seeking a probe into a BJP MLAs caste certificate is laughable when two years have passed since the Assembly elections. The Congress neither complained to the election commission nor approached the court on this issue because it knew that there is nothing wrong in the documents. It would be better if the Congress leaders focus on handling the collapsing structure of their own party, added Bhasin.
