Strongly criticising the Congress for burning the Prime Minister in effigy, the Bharatiya Janata Party stressed that such actions cannot save the Congress from its own crimes. The BJP also termed as laughable the one hour protest fast undertaken by former chief minister Harish Rawat.
The BJP State media in charge Devendra Bhasin, critising the Congress for burning the Prime Minister in effigy said that it resorts to such type of actions in an attempt to misguide the public and protect itself from its own crimes. However, the public understands this and the Congress cannot escape from its own deeds. He said, “The statement made by Prime Minister Narendra Modi about former PM Rajiv Gandhi is the truth and a dark chapter of history. Rajiv Gandhi was directly involved in facilitating the escape of Ottavio Quattrocchi- the main agent in the Bofors scam- from India. During his term as the prime minister, many died and thousands were affected physically in the Bhopal gas tragedy. Here again, Gandhi directly helped the gas tragedy culprit Warren Anderson escape from India. Apart from this, he was also responsible for the massacre of thousands of Sikhs in 1984. However, the Congress runs away from its responsibility in these crimes. When PM Modi- who is being abused by Rahul Gandhi and others-held up a mirror, the Congress got stumped,” said Bhasin.
He further said that ex CM Harish Rawat undertaking an hour-long protest fast on the Dalit murder case was a laughable drama. “All are asking how come his love for Dalits awoke so many days after the incident. On the directions of chief minister Trivendra Singh Rawat, action was taken against the accused who are now in jail. The State Government and the BJP stand with the bereaved family. A team from the national commission for scheduled caste has also visited Uttarakhand and action is underway. The ex-CM undertaking fast now has become a matter of joke,” said the BJP State media in charge.
Referring to the statement made by leader of opposition Indira Hridayesh about the fast undertaken by the ex CM, Bhasin said that serious infighting is underway in the Congress. The various programmes of the Congress leaders are basically part of their fight for survival in this internal struggle, said Bhasin.
