Cong to take the issue of fake certificate of BJP MLA to Rajbhawan
State government should check the certificate submitted by the Karnwal as the allegation by Champion is very serious- Pritam Singh
Latching on to the allegation made by the BJP MLA from Khanpur, Pranav Singh Champion that the caste certificate submitted by the Jhabreda MLA, Deshraj Karnwal at the time of nomination during the assembly election of 2017 is fake, the Congress party has decided to raise the issue with the Governor of Uttarakhand. Terming the allegation very serious, the Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) chief, Pritam Singh told The Pioneer at state party office here on Saturday, that the party has sought time from the governor for a meeting. He said that the state government should check the caste certificate submitted by the Karnwal. Pritam Singh added that the allegation by Champion is very serious and if it is true than the action should be initiated against Karnwal for submitted a fake caste certificate.
Singh added that since Jhabreda from where Karnwal contested the assembly elections and won is a reserved constituency, the allegation that his caste certificate is fake, is very grave.
Launching a scathing attack on the BJP, he said that the unsavoury spat going on between two MLAs of BJP exposes the tall claims of discipline made by the BJP leaders. “ We have seen open war of words between the MLAs, conflict between the government and the party organisation of BJP, incidents of physical manhandling by the BJP leaders. All in a party which swears by discipline’’ he said.
The acrimonious exchanges between Karnwal and Pranav Singh Champion are continuing unabated from last few days putting the leadership of state BJP in a fix. While Champion has put up a question mark on the caste certificate of Karnwal and has accused him of implicating him in a false case, Karnwal on the other hand had questioned the educational qualification of Champion. He also said that the Pranav Singh proclaims himself as a Raja (King) but he actually belongs to a feudal family. Karnwal also said that though Khanpur MLA uses a suffix ‘Champion’ in his name, the fact is that he has never participated in any game. On this charge Champion challenged Karnwal to take him on at the Nehru stadium of Roorkee.
