The state Congress would prepare a charge-sheet meant to expose the alleged misrule of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-helmed Government in two years. After the charge-sheet is prepared, the party would submit it to the Governor Baby Rani Maurya. The decision to file the charge- sheet was taken at a meeting held in New Delhi on Tuesday during which the state Congress president Pritam Singh, the leader of the Opposition Indira Hridayesh and the general secretary (organisation) Vijay Saraswat talked with the in-charge of the state Congress Anugrah Narayan Singh. The co in- charge of the state Congress Pankaj Dharmani was also present at the meeting.
It is learnt that the former Minister Navprabhat would be the convener of the charge- sheet preparation committee while the former Minister Tilak Raj Behar, MLA Manoj Rawat and senior leaders- Dhirendra Pratap and Rajeshwar Painyuli-would be the members of the committee.
The in-charge of Uttarakhand Congress, Anugrah Narayan Singh said that the Congress had raised many issues of public interest over the past two years, submitted memorandums, complaints and held demonstrations. “However, the State Government has taken scant notice of them. This is why we have decided to submit the charge-sheet against it to the Governor. We would also take the same to the common people of the State,” he added.
Cong files police complaint against Goyal for anti-dalit remarks
Taking a serious note of the alleged derogatory remarks allegedly made by the Mahanagar BJP president Vinay Goyal about the Dalits, the Congress has submitted a complaint at the Kotwali police station on Tuesday. On the day, the Congress activists led by the former State convener of Scheduled Caste Forum Mohan Kala and the president of the women wing of Mahanagar Congress, Kamlesh Raman met the in-charge of Kotwali police station and submitted a complaint against Goyal. In the complaint, the Congress leaders alleged that as per a video now going viral in the social media, Goyal is purportedly heard, saying that Dalits are engaged in criminal activities.
Terming the statement as insult to the Dalit community, the Congress leaders said that it has unmasked the true mind- set of BJP. In the complaint, the Congress leaders demanded a case be registered against Goyal for his derogatory utterances.
‘Committee formation another drama by frustrated Congress’
Terming the formation of a committee by the Congress for preparing a chargesheet against the Bharatiya Janata Party as laughable, the BJP State media in charge Devendra Bhasin said that such talk appears surprising coming from the Congress which is synonymous with corruption. He said, “The term of the Congress in office at the Centre and State has been riddled with corruption. At present, both the Central Government under Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the State Government under Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat are taintless.
The public have faith in these Governments that have zero tolerance for corruption. But, the Congress is unable to handle this and is hence resorting to drama again. Whatever the Congress does, the people know its reality and with this drama about formation of a committee, the Congress is going to get stuck in its own ploy.
Congress leaders in Uttarakhand are indulging in various dramas but that party should first check its own record,” said Bhasin.
