The RTI revelation that only a few BJP MLAs actually followed the Uttarakhand government’s decision to deduct 30 percent of salary and allowances for Covid-19 has given a stick to the Congress leaders to browbeat the ruling party. Launching a scathing attack on the BJP, the Vice President of Uttarakhand Congress Dhirendra Pratap said that the President of state BJP Bansidhar Bhagat and the chief spokesperson Munna Singh Chauhan should seek apology from the Congress and people of the state on the issue. He said that both these leaders were regularly accusing the Congress party of not cooperating with the state government in dealing with the pandemic but it has now been proved that both these leaders were among the least contributors from their salaries. On Saturday the Congress MLA from Kedarnath Manoj Rawat had created a flutter when he made the information given in the RTI public. It showed that while all 11 Congress MLAs contributed Rs 57600 per month from their salaries only a handful of BJP MLAs contributed this much amount. Another Vice President of Uttarakhand Congress Surya Kant Dhasmana also attacked the BJP on the issue. He said that the RTI revelation has made it clear that the Congress MLAs contributed much more from their salaries in the Covid-19 fund as compared to the ruling party MLAs.
