Vice president Dhasmana claims that the party would make Gairsain capital of Uttarakhand once elected to power
The vice president of Uttarakhand Congress, Surya Kant Dhasmana has said that Congress party when voted to power would make Gairsain the capital of Uttarakhand. The Congress leader who attended a programme at Gairsain on the occasion of the state foundation day told media persons at the state headquarters of Congress party on Monday that there is a complete unanimity in the party on the issue. He claimed that the party would prepare a roadmap for development of the Gairsain and declare a time bound programme for making it capital of Uttarakhand. “Sentiments of whole of Uttarakhand are associated with Gairsain. It has been the cementing force in the statehood movement and focal point of agitation for a separate state. The view of Congress is crystal clear, Gairsain would be the capital of the state,’’ he said. The Congress leader blamed the ruling BJP for doing nothing to develop the infrastructure of Gairsain. “It was during the regime of Congress party that existing buildings like state assembly and secretariat were come into existence in Gairsain. In last two and half years of BJP rule, not even a single brick was laid in Gairsain,’’ he quipped.
Dhasmana further took the state government to task for very bad condition of roads in all the mountainous parts of the state.
On the upcoming Pithoragarh by election, the Congress leader said that the party candidate Anju Lunthi is poised for a big victory. He said that many senior leaders including central leaders would campaign for the Congress candidate in the by election. Dhasmana said that the detailed programme of the senior leaders would soon be released.
