After addressing the rally at Parade Ground, Congress president Rahul Gandhi visited the residences of the martyrs- Major Chitresh Bisht, Major Vibhuti Shankar Dhaundiyal and Sub- Inspector Mohan Lal Raturi.
Immediately after the rally, the Congress president headed straight to the residence of Major Chitresh Bisht at Nehru Colony. Senior Congress leaders like the former chief minister Harish Rawat, PCC president Pritam Singh, MLA Quazi Nizamuddin and Lal Chand Sharma accompanied him. Here Rahul conveyed his condolences to the grieving family and assured that the whole country is with them. Besides, he expressed his desire to talk privately with the family of the martyr following which all other leaders came out. Rahul spent nearly quarter of an hour with family members which included the father of the martyr, S S Bisht, mother Rekha and brother Niraj Bisht. From there, the motorcade headed to the MDDA Colony on Kanwali Road where the family of the martyred Mohal Lal Raturi resides. Raturi was among 40 Central Reserve Police Force ( CRPF) personnel who had lost their lives in the attack on CRPF convoy at Pulwama on February 14. There the Congress leader spent about 20 minutes during which he reportedly told the young son of the martyr of his having gone through the same experience of losing one’s father. He talked to the wife of Raturi and inquired into the education of the children. The Congress president also visited the residence of Major V S Dhaundiyal at Dangwal Colony and offered condolence.
