The Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president Pritam Singh has accused the BJP government for deliberately weakening the land laws in Uttarakhand for favouring the land mafias. Talking to the media persons at the headquarters of Uttarakhand Congress on Thursday, the PCC president said that a law was enacted to protect the land and interests of the people of the state but this government has conspired with the land mafias to weaken the land laws. He said that the state government has colluded with the land mafia and as a result of which the mafia are purchasing the land on a large scale in the state. One can see jungles of concrete coming up in different parts of the state which is not a good sign for the state, he said.
On the issue of Devasthanam board and agitation of Teerth Purohits, the PCC president said that the act was passed by the present government in the assembly on the basis of brute majority. He said that the Congress party had vehemently opposed the bill both inside the assembly and outside it. The PCC president said that the interests of the stakeholders of the Char Dhams should be protested and promised that the Congress party would scrap the act when it comes to the power in the state in the year 2022.
