Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat and State Minister Dhan Singh Rawat, along with officials, unveiled the logo for the event ‘Young Uttarakhand-Towards Entrepreneurship and Employment’ here on Monday.
The CM said that this event is being held on March 6 keeping the youth of the State at the center is a historic initiative. “Our attempt is to ensure the participation of youth in the State’s development. In a way, this endeavour is being started on March 6. Our youth are today’s citizens and should also do their bit for building the State.
The Young Uttarakhand programme is being held with this aim. By establishing communication with the youth, the event will also be helpful in linking them with employment,” said the CM. An application is also being developed to link the youth with self-employment and employment. It will also enable the youth to give their suggestions while also ensuring their involvement in governmental programmes.
The CM further said that to provide better opportunities for self-employment and employment to the youth, special focus is being laid on skill development. The youth have also been linked with schemes related to solar power and generation of power from Pirul (pine needles). Tenders amounting to Rs 800 crore and Rs 50 crore have been issued for solar power and generation of power from Pirul respectively. Regarding the Young Uttarakhand programme, Rawat said that in addition to 10,000 youth attending the programme, students of 52 colleges will be connected through video link.
Further, 50 prominent industrialists have also been invited to the event.
They will help link the youth to employment through counseling. The CM said that traditionally, it has been seen that the dependence of youth is more on Government and salaried jobs.
Due to technological developments, opportunities are becoming limited in these spheres while new possibilities are rising in the sphere of entrepreneurship.
This is why, the State Government is stressing on entrepreneurship and skill development for youth for which various programmes are being run by different departments. Youth knowing about the available opportunities will boost the state’s development. The Young Uttarakhand-Towards Entrepreneurship and Employment programme is being held with this in view. Principal secretary Manisha Panwar, secretaries Radhika Jha, R Meenakshi Sundaram and Information director general Deependra Kumar Chaudhari were also present at the unveiling of the logo.
