Chief minister Trivendra Singh Rawat inaugurated the 45-metre long Malot bridge constructed by the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) at a cost of Rs 4.36 crore at Nauli in Karnprayag. On the occasion, the chief minister also announced construction of motor road from Simli Bazaar to Simli village and from Deval to Sidola village; construction of two classrooms in Gogna high school in Gairsain block; flood protection works at Lambagad in Gairsain which experienced flood in June; construction of motor road to Nauli Devthapli Ratuda scheduled settlement and construction of the Ujjwalpu-Sainj Dharkot Ghandiyal motor road. He said that the Malot bridge will not only benefit the locals but also the people of Kumaon region.
Addressing the gathering on the occasion, the chief minister reiterated that the State government is working to provide important facilities in remote regions of the state. Special focus is being laid on schemes related to education, health, road and potable water. Schemes are also being drafted to link the youth with self-employment. If the youth get involved in self-employment in the mountainous areas, it will also help in mitigating the migration from such areas. He also said that industry status has been accorded to tourism in order to encourage it with facilities being accorded to industries now being made available to tourism also. Referring to work being undertaken in the medical treatment and health sector, Rawat said that with the help of non governmental organisations, treatment facilities had been provided at the Char Dham shrines and on the routes to the shrines. Further, a sum of Rs 10 crore has been approved for the Simli base women hospital. The chief minister said that Uttarakhand had become the first state in India where a drone was used to transport blood across a distance of 38 kilometres in Tehri district. Such modern technologies should also be used in other districts in the health sector, he said.
The Karnprayag MLA Surendra Singh Negi, informing the chief minister about the problems faced in the area, also thanked the BRO and all involved in the construction of the bridge. The BRO ADG Anil Kumar informed that the Manot bridge at Nauli in Karnprayag was constructed before the deadline. Its construction was to be completed in 2020 but was completed in May 2019. Tharali MLA Munni Devi Shah, BRO chief engineer AS Rathor, 21 BRTF colonel SS Makkad and others were also present on the occasion.
