The State Government is focusing on the rise in the number of the high-end tourists visiting Uttarakhand as such tourists have more capacity to spend money, said the Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat while speaking at the inaugural ceremony of a four- lane Railway Over Bridge ( ROB) at Ajabpur on Monday.
He said that over the past three years, the number of tourists, visiting the State, is showing a steadily upward trend. He said that in 2018, six lakh more tourists had arrived in Uttarakhand as compared with 2017. He further said that the State is becoming fast a destination of film-making which would help the economy greatly.
Reiterating the commitment of his Government to the all-round development of the State, Rawat said that orders for construction of roads worth Rs 15,000 crore have been issued. He further said that the State has achieved a good progress in the construction of rural roads. “It has also received an award from the Government of India in recognition,” he said. He listed implementation of NCERT syllabus in all the schools, appointment of permanent faculty members in the medical colleges and the Government colleges and starting of classes in Central institute of Plastics Engineering and Technology (CIPET) as some of the achievements of his Government.
Heaping praise on the Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his steely resolve and invincible political will which resulted in air strikes of Indian Air Force (IAF) inside Pakistan, Rawat said that the message of India being ready to go to any extent to deal with terrorism has gone forth to the world.
He added that the feat of Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman of shooting down a much advanced plane F-16 from his Mig-21 is unmatched and it shows the calibre of the IAF pilots to brave risks.
The Chief Minister also unveiled foundation stones of some other projects on the occasion.
Tehri MP, Mala Rajya Laxmi Shah and MLAs- Harbans Kapur and Umesh Sharma Kau-were among others present on the occasion.
