The city buses will resume operations in Dehradun from Friday, informed the president of Dehradun Mahanagar City Bus Seva Mahasangh, Vijay Vardhan Dandriyal. He said that the State cabinet has approved the decision to double the amount of bus fare considering the loss bus operators will have to bear while carrying fewer passengers to maintain physical distancing in buses for the old fare.
Dandriyal said that probably only a few buses will operate on Friday though how many buses operate after that will depend on the response of the locals. Dandriyal also mentioned that the government has hiked the fares of only stage carriage vehicles and the three-wheeler vehicles like Vikrams and auto rickshaw do not have permission to increase their fare yet. However, he also mentioned that this hike is made temporarily under the Disaster Management Act by the state government and it will automatically get revoked once the situation gets normal and the fare will be the same as it was before the pandemic.
