The city bus union has sent a letter to Regional Transport Office offering to ply city buses on Dehradun- Mussoorie, Dehradun-Rishikesh or Dehradun-Haridwar routes. The union president Vijay Vardhan Dandriyal said that city buses are already operating on Yatra route as additional services, so if department agrees they will operate city buses on Dehradun-Mussoorie route as additional support for the time being.
Dandriyal said, “We have offered our services to RTO, if they want we can provide city buses on Dehradun-Mussoorie, Rishikesh or Haridwar routes. Our 40 city buses are already operating on Yatra route as additional support. Through media reports we came to know that few taxi owners are charging double the actual fare. If department agrees, they can take city buses under their handling for the time being.”
It is pertinent to mention that increasing number of tourists planning to visit Mussoorie or any nearby station from Dehradun have limited transport options. Due to this complaints against some taxi owners have been raised, stating that they are charging more than the actual fare.
