The daring air strikes by the gallant warriors of Indian Air Force on the terror camps deep inside the Pakistani territory has not only gladdened the hearts of the countrymen as they see these strikes as a perfect retribution to the Pulwama attack on CRPF convoy which caused martyrdom of 40 personnel but has also given a reason to cheer for the foot soldiers of BJP. With elections round the corner, the now euphoric leaders of the saffron party, the faces of whom looked sullen only some days ago while gearing up for the gruelling season of campaign ahead, are now looking relaxed with an ear to ear wide grin on their faces. The task of the ruling party has also been made easier by some Congress leaders who in their desperation are seeking proof of these strikes. One senior functionary of BJP confided that prior to these unprecedented pre-emptive strikes, the party was facing the heat in at least three out of the five parliamentary seats in Uttarakhand. ‘’Now we are sweeping all five,’’ quipped the leader with a confidence befitting a top army general who after outwitting his counterpart is about to annihilate enemy ranks.
An overzealous legislature of BJP representing one of the assembly constituencies of Dehradun was cut to size by none other Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman recently during a programme organised by the MLA to honour the war widows and proud mothers of martyrs. When the minister arrived at the venue, the organisers announced that the Defence minister would be felicitated by the mother of a martyr on which she expressed her displeasure and said that she has come to Dehradun to honour these brave women and not be get felicitated. Everyone watched in appreciation as the humble minister honoured the surprised elderly lady and won hearts by touching the feet of the martyr’s mother. Smiles however appeared on faces of almost everyone when during the programme, the brawny MLA was referred to as Hanuman for his ever enthusiastic approach to serve the ex servicemen by a retired General sahab as memories of this Hanuman causing injury to ‘ Shaktiman’ the police stallion during a demonstration outside Vidhan Sabha and thus attaining instant worldwide notoriety apart from attracting wrath of animal lovers came to everyone’s mind like a flash.
