Hostilities between India and Pakistan escalating with each passing day and clamour for an all out war to teach treacherous Pakistan a lesson once and for all, turning into crescendo, the wise heads are advocating that every citizen of the nation should act as a soldier during such critical times. They point out that since it is highly unlikely that Pakistan would escalate things to the point of an all out war as its economy is in shambles and not in a position to bear burden of war, it would rather engage India by instigating terror groups and sympathisers within India to carry out isolated attacks on military and civilian targets. In such a scenario it is advisable that instead to needlessly rolling up the sleeves on misplaced jingoism fuelled by highly provocative TV channels who in pursuit of all important TRP have turned their studios into war rooms, common people should act as vigilant soldiers of nation, reporting any suspicious activity and persons to the police promptly.
A powerful Babu who is bequeathed with many important assignments by the State Government including the important portfolio of health services is being despised for his no nonsense approach by those who hitherto had ruled the roost in the Health department. Most recently, his tough stance was able to wilt down the powerful association of private doctors which was on a warpath over its demand for amendments in Clinical Establishments Act. As part of their tactics to put pressure on state government, these doctors locked down their clinics and hospitals but the headstrong Babu refused to buckle. It is learnt that the Babu is particularly inimical towards a proactive functionary of the association of doctors. Left high and dry due to unrelenting stance of government and mounting financial losses due to closure of their business establishments, the leaders of doctors reportedly pleaded before a top BJP leader with a soft corner for them, to find a face saving solution. On his intervention, the battered and barehanded association of doctors later took back its agitation in presence of chief minister.
The absence of a powerful Cabinet Minister of TSR Government from key programmes of his departments recently has raised eyebrows. The minister was conspicuous by his absence from Tehri lake festival held to promote adventure sports in Tehri lake and National Skiing Competition at Auli. Those knowing a thing about the politics of the state are of the view that this minister who also is a saint and spiritual speaker believes that his political stature is much higher than what he is bestowed within the party and government. In the past too reports of his displeasure over not being provided a chopper to attend a programme and being denied the secretary of his choice for his department had also drawn attention. The speculation is also rife that this minister who earlier was in Congress is eyeing Garhwal Lok Sabha seat to shift base to centre.
