Cabinet takes various decisions for grand Kumbh Mela

Various decisions were taken in the meeting of the state cabinet under chief minister Tirath Singh Rawat on Thursday. Informing the media about the decisions taken in the meeting, cabinet minister Subodh Uniyal who was also appointed the state government spokesman earlier in the day said that a total of five issues were discussed in the cabinet meeting.

He said that in order to ensure a divine and grand Kumbh Mela in Haridwar while also considering the shortage of time, the cabinet had approved the proposal of the Kumbh Mela officer for facilitating some relaxation in provisions of the procurement rules to enable swift execution of various works including those related to roads, electricity, water, street lights, toilets and other facilities. In another decision, the cabinet approved changing the name of Gopan department to council of ministers in order to resolve confusion. Uniyal further informed that the 10 year agreement with Fortis hospital in Dehradun had ended on March 7, considering which the cabinet approved extending the agreement by one year. The cabinet also approved the proposal to grant Rs one crore for preparation of a Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the government medical college in Kotdwar.

The DPR will then be sent to the Central government. In another decision, the cabinet granted its approval to divide manpower under the solid waste management in Municipal Corporation of Haridwar into four parts. It will be divided into Kankhal, Mayapur, Gaurishankar and Bhupatwala to resolve practical issues being faced in its execution.
