The Bharatiya Janata Party state Lok Sabha election in charge and Union minister Thaawar Chand Gehlot said that the names of the party’s candidates would be declared after the meeting of the party’s central election committee on March 16 and March 18. He further said that the party would release its Sankalp Patra (manifesto) within the next 20 days.
Addressing the media at the BJP state office here on Wednesday, Gehlot said that the first meeting of the central election committee of the party is slated to be held on March 16 and the second meeting will be held on March 18. The party is expected to declare the names of its candidates on these dates. Regarding the manifesto of the party, he said that the suggestions of the public will be included prominently in the party’s manifesto for the Lok Sabha election 2019. He said that the party’s national president Amit Shah had formed a committee for the drafting of the party’s election manifesto. The promises to be made in the manifesto will be based on the suggestions received from the public. To ensure this, the manifesto committee had formed its sub-committees that include people from all sections of society.
These sub-committees have been listening to the wishes of the people and taking their suggestions in all the states. In addition to this, about 300 vehicles have been sent across the nation with suggestion boxes. The members of the general public are depositing their suggestions in writing in the suggestion boxes. The suggestions received from various sources will be compiled and screened after which the BJP will draft and release its manifesto, he said.
Col Kothiyal met me: Gehlot
Union Minister and BJP Lok Sabha election in-charge for Uttarakhand, Thaawar Chand Gehlot said that the former principal of Nehru Institute of Mountaineering (NIM) Colonel (retd) Ajay Kothiyal was among the many persons who had met him in view of the Parliamentary elections.
Responding to media queries here on Wednesday, Gehlot said that various leaders and personalities from outside the BJP have been meeting him.
Kothiyal is also one of these persons, he said, adding that whether he is fielded by the party or not in the Lok Sabha elections from Garhwal constituency will be decided as per the system existing in the party.
