Seeking to put on a brave face in the wake of snowballing controversy over Uttara Bahuguna’ suspension, the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party said that there might be a conspiracy angle in the episode. The saffron State brass is citing a post on Facebook wall of the teacher posted on June 27, a day ahead of the incident, to buttress the point.
The media in- charge of the party, Devendra Bhasin claimed that it was not the first time that action was taken against the teacher for prolonged absenteeism.“ Uttara Bahuguna was handed over a notice of service termination during the Congress regime on September 24, 2016,” he said.
Dubbing the Congress stir over the issue unfortunate, he said that the opposition party’s posturing manifests its desperation for relevance. “They are now on the defensive as the State Government is relentlessly acting to free the state of corruption. They know the public support is with the BJP Government,” he said.
Seeking to make light of the current row, he said that the matter is purely an administrative one and nothing to do with disrespect shown to a woman as the critics are trying to make it out. “Over 50 other women attended the Janata Darbar programme of CM on the day and all of them were satisfied with the response they received there. The incident happened as the lady teacher abused the Chief Minister,” he said.
CM’S WIFE TURNS TARGET OF CRITICS’ ANGER
With the teacher transfer row, sparked by a lady teacher’s spat with the Chief Minister and her subsequent suspension, turning into an instrument for the critics to beat the State Government with, questions are being raised over the place of posting of Government school teacher Sunita Rawat, who is the wife of the Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat, in a Dehradun-based school.
On Saturday, a former BJP leader Subhash Sharma who now calls himself a social media activist said that CM should first suspend his wife as she remains posted in a school located in a Sugam area, less than one km from her home, from the past 22 years in violation of the norms.
He even questioned the educational qualification of CM’s wife and claimed that she was appointed in district cadre of Pauri in 1992 from where she was transferred to a Government school Ajabpur Kalan located in Dehradun in 1996.
The former BJP leader demanded the list of the relatives of the politicians, senior officers and other influential people detailing places of their posting be released to clear the air of the questions raised over favouritism.
