Over a year still left for the Lok Sabha election 2019, the Haridwar district unit of Bharatiya Janata Party has got right into the poll gear. The district president of the party Jaipal Singh had appointed the heads of the executive committees of seven affiliated wings of the ruling party like those of the women, Scheduled Castes (SC), Other Backward Classes (OBC) and minorities on 12 December last. However, the district party leadership was yet to appoint the members of such committees and also to firm up their line of action. Now, things are being a concrete shape with the party high command pressuring every district unit of the party to firm up a framework to help the party face the upcoming Lok Sabha election head-on. The office bearers have been appointed for two of such wings-women and minorities- at the behest of the district party unit, the district BJP leaders said.
As per the BJP insiders, the head of SC wing Chatar Sen has appointed Jagendra Singh of Bhagwanpur as the chairman of the district unit of the wing. Besides, Paramjeet of Manglour, Rakesh of Khanpur, Ajeet Jatav of Roorkee, Rajpal of Jwalapur, Dharampul of Haridwar and Ilamchand of Jwalapur have been appointed vice- presidents of executive committee. Samay Singh from Jhabreda, Sanjay from Ranipur, Dinesh Kapadia from Haridwar and Jitendra Kehda from Laksar have been made the general secretaries of the district wing while Adesh Pradhan of Kaliyar has been appointed as the media in-charge.
Similarly, for the minority morcha, Rao Zamir Ahmed would act as the district chairman while Sumit Walia and Abdul Rehman would act as the secretaries. Besides, 15 other party workers have been inducted into the executive committee of the minority wing.
“We hope that other wings would also have their office bearers soon and the party would be right into the poll gear for the upcoming civic body election slated in April and then the grand battle 2019,” said a senior district BJP leader.
