Cong workers protest against increase in price of petrol & diesel for third consecutive Monday
The Congress party continued its protest against the hike in the prices of diesel and petrol the Congress on Monday. The Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president Pritam Singh led a protest march of Congress workers in Uttarkashi town on the day. Launching an attack on the BJP government the PCC president said that the Trivendra Singh Rawat government has proved to be a failure in every front. He claimed that the government is adopting a stoic silence on the issues of development and social responsibilities. Singh said that the state government has also failed in controlling the Covid-19 pandemic. He said that the people of the state are reeling under the double whammy of the increase in prices of petrol, diesel and price rise along with the bad governance of the BJP government. He alleged that different yardsticks are being employed for the opposition and ruling party and a desperate state government is registering false cases against the Congress leaders. The PCC president warned that the Congress party is unfazed by the fictitious cases and would continue to raise the issues of public interest. Former MLA Vijay Pal Sajwan, Rajkumar and others participated in the march.
Meanwhile in Dehradun the Congress leaders and workers led by Vice President Surya Kant Dhasmana held a demonstration at a petrol pump on EC road. The workers held placards and distributed pamphlets which mentioned a comparative account of the fuel prices between the BJP government and Congress led UPA government. It also depicted the international price of crude during the UPA government and its comparison during the price during the present dispensation. The Congress claimed that the Modi government has looted Rs 15 lakh Crore from the pockets of the general public in the last six years. Speaking on the occasion that the Congress party had decided that it would protest every Monday against the hike in prices of petrol and diesel. He added that the agitation would continue till the loot of public money in the form of increased prices of diesel and petrol would continue. The Congress state spokesperson Garima Dassauni, Vice President of Mahila Congress, Anju Bali and others took part in the protest.
