Next date to be announced after Bhagat recovers from Covid-19
The Bharatiya Janata Party has postponed the first meeting of its state working committee under the party’s state president Bansidhar Bhagat. The meeting was to be inaugurated at a hotel in Dehradun on Monday by the party’s national general secretary Ram Madhav.
The BJP state vice president and media in-charge Devendra Bhasin informed that the meeting of the working committee had been postponed due to the party’s state president not being well. It will be recalled that Bhagat has recently tested positive for Covid-19 and is under treatment at a hospital. Since the party’s state president presides over the working committee, it was decided to postpone the meeting. The meeting will be held after Bhagat recovers, after which a new date will be fixed.
Earlier, the BJP State unit had announced that the meeting of its state working committee would be held at a hotel on Monday. The party’s national general secretary Ram Madhav was to inaugurate the meeting. Considering the Covid-19 pandemic, both physical presence and virtual means were to be used for the attendees. The party’s national vice president and state in-charge Shyam Jaju, national joint general secretary (organisation) Shiv Prakash, Union minister Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi and chief minister Trivendra Singh Rawat were among those slated to address the meeting. The party’s state general secretary (organisation) Ajey Kumar and other office bearers had accorded final shape to the form of the meeting and had also allocated responsibilities. The meeting was to be held in accordance with regulations in place to check the spread of Covid-19. While 50 office bearers were to be present at the hotel for the meeting, the rest were to attend the meeting virtually. It is pertinent to mention here that the BJP state office was also closed for two days on Saturday after the party’s state chief tested positive for Covid-19.
