The Baltic Center of the Dev Sanskriti Vishwavidyalaya has become the first University to confer the award of excellence to Professor Marcis Auzins, former rector, University of Latvia, and Martin Gauss, president, Air Baltic Cooperation.
The award was conferred by Chinmay Pandya, pro vice chancellor of Dev Sanskriti University in Riga, the capital of Latvia. The city based university DSVV also entered into an agreement with Riseba University and Riga Technical University for advance studies of the students of DSVV at these universities.
This cooperation would prove to be a great highlight during the forthcoming tour of vice president of India to Latvia, said university officials. Chancellor of Dev Sanskriti Vishwavidyalaya, Pranav Pandya has expressed happiness at these academic accomplishments. In recent years, Dev Sanskriti Vishwavidyalaya has demonstrated its global presence by establishing more than 60 international collaborations with prestigious Universities of USA, UK, Canada, Germany, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Hungary, Malaysia, Indonesia, China, Japan, Russia, Korea, Kazakhstan and Switzerland. In addition, DSVV holds a bond with Baltic nations namely Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia for many years and that has resulted into more than 20 bilateral cooperations, including Erasmus plus collaborations with many academic institutions in Latvia and the Baltic region.
Pranav Pandya said, “We are the only university in Asia to have established the first ever International Centre for Baltic Culture and Studies, which was inaugurated in August 2016 in the presence of ambassadors of all the three Baltic nations and Governor of Uttarakhand.
The Baltic Centre of the DSVV is facilitating the educational exchange in between Indian and European Students and has gained notable recognition from all sectors of the society.” For this purpose the interested students are being taught Latvian language at DSVV, and thereafter students will be sent to these universities, he added.
