Baby Rani Maurya, the Governor designate of Uttarakhand, would take oath of office at Raj Bhawan on Sunday. She would be the second woman Governor of Uttarakhand after Margret Alva. Preparations were on hectic pace at Raj Bhawan on Saturday for the swearing–in.
The Governor designate would arrive at Dehradun airport Jollygrant in a State plane at 12 noon on Sunday. Garhwal commissioner and deputy inspector general (DIG) Garhwal would receive Maurya there. A guard of honour would be accorded to her at the airport by a contingent of State police personnel. From the airport, a helicopter would take her to the GTC Helipad where the District Magistrate and Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Dehradun would receive her. On her arrival at Raj Bhawan, Maurya would be welcomed by the Chief Secretary and Director General of police.
Meanwhile, the Chief Secretary Utpal Kumar Singh reviewed the preparations for the swearing-in-ceremony on Saturday. In a meeting attended by the DGP, additional chief secretary Om Prakash, principal secretary Home Anand Vardhan, secretaries-Amit Negi, Ravi Nath Raman and Dilip Javalkar and Garhwal commissioner Dilip Jawalkar, CS stressed that all the arrangements right from departure of Maurya from Agra till the swearing-in ends must be fool-proof.
