The Bharatiya Janata Party has issued a show cause notice to its MLA from Raipur, Umesh Sharma ‘Kau’ taking cognisance of an audio clip being spread on the social media in which the MLA is purportedly being heard advocating votes for a rebel candidate contesting against the candidate supported by the party in the Panchayat elections.
On the directions of the BJP state president and MP Ajay Bhatt, the party’s state general secretary Rajendra Bhandari has issued a show cause notice to the party’s Raipur MLA Umesh Sharma ‘Kau’. The notice served to the MLA states, “Based on the report received form the committee formed for the Panchayat election, an audio has gone viral on the social media of you being against the candidate supported by the BJP. Your behaviour comes under the category of serious indiscipline. In the said case, the BJP state president Ajay Bhatt has taken cognisance and on his directions, based on this incident why shouldn’t disciplinary action be taken against you under the party’s constitution for taking internal matters of the party in the electronic media and working with the intention of denting the prestige of the party? You are expected to submit your explanation within three days. If your explanation is not received within the said time period it will be understood that you have nothing to say regarding this case.”
It is pertinent to mention here that in the said audio clip, the MLA is purported to be talking to someone and eliciting support for a rebel BJP candidate instead of the candidate supported by the party in the district Panchayat election. Earlier, the BJP state president had told media persons that the said audio clip would be checked. The MLA meanwhile has not made any statement in the media regarding this case so far.
