Anti-Encroachment Drive- 130 demolished, 237 reverified
The anti-encroachment drive being undertaken on directions of the high court continued in Kanwali Road and other areas of Dehradun on Wednesday. The additional chief secretary Om Prakash informed that as part of the drive on Wednesday, 130 encroachments were demolished and reverification of demarcation on 237 encroachments was done. In addition to this, one new encroachment was marked and action was taken for sealing of unauthorised buildings and issuing notices for illegal parking spaces in 101 cases.
The additional chief secretary directed the officials and employees in the anti-encroachment task force to work in a well coordinated manner to ensure swift and cent per cent implementation of the orders issued by the high court. He further directed that in pursuance of the high court orders, the task of removing encroachments without any partiality should be executed swiftly so that the general public is convinced that the anti-encroachment drive is being undertaken with full transparency. The task of setting up pillars in places from where encroachments have been removed should also be expedited. This is needed so that these places are not encroached upon again. He directed the task force officers that the task of removing encroachments from main roads should be speeded up further so that the task can be completed by September 28. Officials of the Mussoorie Dehradun Development Authority (MDDA), Public Works Department (PWD), irrigation, Municipal Corporation of Dehradun (MCD) and other departments were also directed to complete the tasks related to their respective departments on time. After removal of the encroachments, the work of widening the roads and beautification will be undertaken in a phased manner on a priority basis so that the general public does not face inconvenience.
