Class XI student, Aniket Rahal has been selected in cricket team of Uttarakhand for prestigious Vijay Merchant trophy in under 16 category. He was selected by Cricket Association of Uttarakhand on behalf of BCCI. The last match is on November 6 in the series with different states.
Notably the 2019 – 20 Vijay Merchant Trophy is its 18th season- a list A cricket tournament in India which is currently being held. The trial matches were held in Kashipur since October 3.
Over the phone from Kashipur where the matches are being held, Aniket Rahal told this correspondent, “Out of 160 students in the state from both Kumaon and Garhwal regions, first batch of 76 students was selected. After several trials, the final team of 15 children in under 16 category has been finalised after camping.” Talking about his goal, Aniket said that he dreams cricket and lives cricket and wants to make his career as a cricketer.
The principal of his school- Shiv Dale school Kiran Sharma and founder Mahant Sharad Puri also greeted the youngster on being selected in the state team. Puri said that he had been giving guidance to the children to take nutritious diet and adopt healthy life style.
