Former chairman of Mandi Parishad, Ravinder Singh Anand along with his supporters and members of voluntary organisations staged protest outside the office of Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) on Friday. In the absence of SSP Nivedita Kukreti they submitted their memorandum to Circle Officer (CO) Mussoorie.
Speaking with media, Anand said, “The case is now being dragged because the police department knows that it is at fault. Even the Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Keval Khurana has put my complaint on the back burner. If the accused personnel of City Patrol Unit (CPU) are not suspended, we will approach the court.”
It is pertinent to mention here that according to the complainant Ravinder Singh Anand, on June 3 while he was going from Bannu Chowk to Nehru Colony he got a phone call, for receiving which he parked his car on the roadside. Just then, two CPU officers Shailendra Singh Negi and Bishamber Dutt stating that he broke traffic rule tried to issue Challan. When he protested they allegedly threatened to seize his car. After that Negi forcefully tried to take the car keys, broke his watch and tore his kurta, alleged Anand.
