In the Anatomy (Practical) of Ist year students of Government Doon Medical College (GDMC) held again after the student erupted in protest, all the 39 students who appeared have passed. The practical exam was held again under the direction of HNB Uttarakhand Medical Education University after 40 out of 52 students had failed Anatomy examination, resulting in student unrest.
The registrar and controller examination, Vijay Juyal said that the re-examination in practical of Anatomy had been held on January 7 in which 39 out of 40 students appeared and all of them cleared it.
He, however, clarified that seven out 52 students have failed in the overall examination in Anatomy (Theory + Practical).
It is pertinent to mention here that the students of first year MBBS of GDMC had started an agitation on December 17 last after they had found that a majority of them had flunked the practical examination.
The students had been particularly angry with the head of department (HoD) of Anatomy of the college, Dr S K Agarwal over 40 out of 52 students having flunked the exam in Anatomy.
The students had alleged that the HoD of anatomy had openly threatened students that he would fail all the students in practical examinations. Parents of the students had also joined the agitation and sat on a dharna in the college for three days. The students had relented after an inquiry had been ordered by HNB Medical University after which the examination was held again.
